Pella is beautiful and unique all year long, but at Tulip Time it comes alive with tulips, Dutch attire, food, fun, and more. Thousands of residents wear Dutch attire and celebrate our Dutch heritage. Three days each spring, Pella is bursting with color and excitement for Pella residents and visitors alike!
For 2024 bloom the City of Pella Parks Department planted over 120,000 tulips in parks & street flower beds. Over 250 beds in total! When deciding what bulbs to plant staff considers the following: color, height, location (sun/shade), bloom time, surrounding foliage or hardscape and uniqueness
Pella Historical Village and Vermeer Windmill Tour
Inside the historical Village, you'll see the boyhood home of Wyatt Earp, a wooden shoe shop, and antique Delift collection, a replica of Dominie Scholte's first church in Pella and a refurbished working bakery. When you visit the Vermeer Windmill, you'll tour five floors, from the base of the mill where grain would have been brought in, to the top floor where grain is milled. It is the tallest working windmills in North America!
What started as one building has grown to a 22-building complex, covering Pella's history beginning in the 1840s. Inside the Historical Village, you'll see...The Boyhood Home of Wyatt Earp, Beason-Blommers Mill and Blacksmith Shop, Log Cabin, moved piece by piece from a local farm, and Werkplaats, the place where wooden shoes are made.

You'll see Sterrenberg Library and Delft House, which houses an extensive antique Delft collection, Scholte Church, a replica of Dominie Scholte's first church in Pella, Heritage Hall, which houses antiques, costumes, and vignettes of Dutch daily life, as well as Goliath, our authentic Dutch street organ, Bakery, completely refurbished as a working bakery of the 1850s, Meat and Cheese Shop, a tribute to the legacy of Pella's meat markets, Sod House, a replica of the housing of Pella's pioneers during their early years, ...and much more. We invite you to come explore all the wonderful displays, artifacts, exhibits and celebrations that the Historical Village and Fesitval offers.
